Trail Improvements

Arroyo Chamiso underpass (2012)
The purpose of this page is to better track ongoing improvements and additions to Santa Fe area trails. Frequently updated:

Beginning with the formation of the city-wide Bicycle and Trails Advisory Committee (2005) and subsequent voter approval of bonds to fund trail planning and construction ($9M in 2008; and $6M in 2012), the city of Santa Fe is in the midst of a long term build-out of a new multi-use urban trail system. This work is the result of several years of planning and advocacy by the Bicycle Coalition of NM and the indefatigable Gail Ryba, among others.

In tandem with the new City-wide trails system, the County and several local trail advocacy groups including the Santa Fe Conservation Trust, the Commonweal Conservancy, and the Santa Fe Fat Tire Society continue to improve upon our outlying county recreational trails (Dale Ball, La Tierra, Santa Fe Rail Trail, Arroyo Hondo, Galisteo Basin). The result being a first rate trail network recently recognized by IMBA as one of just seven national silver-level ride centers.
